Family Night leads off Muskego Fest

Aug. 23, 2010 | 0 comments

Muskego — This year's Muskego Fest will be more kid-friendly than ever with a special family tent featuring events such as a Teen Idol contest and performances by Anita's Dance Company.

Family Night, an alcohol-free event, opens the four-day celebration today on the festival grounds on Racine Avenue and Pioneer Drive.

The semifinals for the Muskego Teen Idol contest will get under way at 6 p.m. in the Family Tent.

Also as part of Family Night, kids and adults can ride all the midway rides they want with a $16 wristband.

The event also includes live musical entertainment and limited food selections.

The regular festival runs through Sunday, with a 5 p.m. ceremony Friday marking the official start of the weekend party. There will be live music every day, plus shows and food.

Radio Disney on Saturday afternoon offers music that's appealing to children and young teens. There will be interactive things to do, removable tattoos, games and prizes.

Saturday night features the finals of the Muskego Teen Idol contest.

Among Sunday's highlights will be the festival parade stepping off at 11 a.m. from Janesville and Lannon roads. It will head west down Janesville to Racine Avenue, then south to the festival grounds.

The festival will open at 5 p.m. Friday, at 1 p.m. Saturday, and at 11 a.m. Sunday. The carnival rides start earlier some days. Admission is free.
