Chamber asks business to start Jammin' in January

Meeting seeks ideas for second summer promotion

Dec. 22, 2011 | 0 comments

Muskego - Summer may seem like a world away, but the Muskego Chamber of Commerce is asking Janesville Road business owners to start thinking about the warm nights ahead.

At 6:30 p.m. Jan. 5, the chamber will sponsor a Jammin' on Janesville 2012 kickoff meeting at Muskego Library, W16663 Janesville Road.

Jammin' on Janesville, which offers entertainment and activities similar to a big block party up and down Janesville Road, was introduced this year. The 2012 incarnation is already scheduled for the first Fridays of June, July, and August. The goal is to help people remember those businesses when the road itself is torn up to be widened.

The kickoff meeting will include business networking, a presentation by the two event coordinators, and information tables.

In surveying last year's business participants, the Muskego Chamber of Commerce learned 51 percent of participating businesses found the event was "very effective," while another 21 percent thought it was "somewhat effective."

Already planners are calling for the 2012 event to have a more extensive marketing campaign. Each of the three events next summer will also offer:

trolleys to increase guest movement and traffic at individual businesses'

a $1 menu to provide more widespread sampling opportunities at individual businesses;

a map activities to increase guest movement;

a Randy Roadbot coloring book promo that will be used to increase family attendance and business traffic;

partnerships with one non-profit group each month to add heart to the event and increase promo opportunities;

more activities to engage guests further and form a more solid connection to products and services;

more sponsorship opportunities to promote each business;

more business participation to expand the event's offerings and overall audience appeal and traffic.

More information is available from Tina Weiss, chamber executive director, at (414) 422-1155.
