Borland sister swimmers sign with UWM

Nov. 28, 2011 | 0 comments

Muskego - Claire and Hope Borland, who completed their senior seasons with the Muskego girls swimming team a few weeks ago, have both signed letters of intent with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee swimming squad.

Both represented Muskego at the WIAA State Championships in their careers and have been longtime members of the Southwest Aquatic Team (SWAT), enjoying success in state and regional championships.

Teammates Emma Szczupakiewicz and Sami Pochowski also signed with Division 1 schools, Szczupakiewicz with Miami of Ohio and Pochowski with Florida State University.

Pochowski captured three WIAA Division 1 state titles in the past two seasons for the Warriors and won numerous All-American honors. Pochowski, who also competed with the SWAT squad, qualified for next year's U.S. Olympic Trials as well.

Szczupakiewicz won the 100 backstroke in the 2010 state meet and earned numerous All-American honors. She was also on SWAT squads and owns a number of Wisconsin state records for the club.
