Eisenhower girls continue to shine in volleyball

Three squads are perfect in Woodland

Nov. 14, 2011 | 0 comments

New Berlin - If you want to know how good of shape the New Berlin Eisenhower girls volleyball program is, one stat will tell the story: 8-0.

That is the Woodland Conference record of this year's varsity, JV and freshmen teams.

The varsity team won back-to-back conference Woodland Black Division titles and the Woodland conference tournament. The Lions finished second at the Hartford and Arrowhead invites, won the Slinger invite and beat crosstown rival New Berlin West to have bragging rights for another year, also allowing the team to go undefeated in the conference.

"We had another amazing team with great talent," Eisenhower coach Mary Campbell said. "We will miss our senior leaders next year as we try to defend our title."

Campbell will lose four seniors to graduation: Carolyn Bogart, Emily Gary, Jeni Heller and Julie Beeler.

The Lions were led by two all-state selections: Bogart (second-team) and Gary (honorable mention).

Bogart topped off an outstanding season by being named the Player of the Year for the Woodland Conference, earning a spot on both the All-Woodland Conference and the Black Division All-Conference teams.

Gary also was selected to both all-star teams, Heller was named to the Black Division team and second-team all-Woodland, and Nina Dodd earned second-team Black Division.

The Lions also announced their team awards, which went to Bogart (MVP), Gary (Player of the Year) and Heller (Most Improved).

On a separate note, Heller earned a scholarship to play at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside next season.
