Warriors roll along in SEC swim slate

Muskego drops Park to move up to 3-0

Dec. 19, 2011 | 0 comments

Muskego - The early-season dominance of Muskego's boys swimming team continued on Dec. 13 with a 128-52 dual romp over Racine Park.

The Warriors improved to 3-0 in Southeast Conference duals, and none has even been close.

"Patrick Walsh and Joe Szczupakiewicz are swimming strongly, and we can always count on Nick Spoerk, Matt Gilson, Tyler Schrank and Allan Prichard to have good events," coach Larry Milton said. "Jon Roberts' return to the program is a plus also.

"People who are improving every meet are Ryker Sharp, Andrew Holten and Noah Golden, and our freshmen, Thomas Stigler, Joe Paquette and Clayton Cesarz, are adjusting to high school meets compared to day-long club meets."

Against Park, Szczupakiewicz won both the 200 individual medley (2 minutes, 4.36 seconds) and 500 freestyle (4:58.1), while Roberts took both the 100 butterfly (54.6 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (1:04.22).

Walsh captured the 200 freestyle (1:50.15), Prichard the 100 freestyle (55.36) and Gilson the 100 backstroke (1:02.37).

Winning relays were Gilson, Roberts, Paquette and Prichard in the 200 medley (1:48.71); Spoerk, Roberts, Stigler and Sharp in the 200 freestyle (1:39.3); and Prichard, Schrank, Gilson and Holten in the 400 freestyle (3:50.78).

Muskego swam a dual against Hartford on Tuesday of this week to close out the pre-holiday portion of the season. The Warriors are now off until Jan. 3, when they welcome Franklin.
