Muskego Performing Arts Council Sponsors - I Have a Dream – The Life and Times of Martin Luther King Jr.

Feb. 3, 2012 | 0 comments

On Monday, 01/30/12, the Muskego High School Performing Arts Center became a place for a short trip back in time and American history for many of our area children. Two matinees of I Have a Dream – The Life and Times of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. were performed for a combined audience of 1,350 Muskego and other area elementary and middle school students.

The national tour company Theatre IV delighted the student audiences with their performance. The story told of Dr. King’s work and philosophy of non-violent protest in the effort of promoting civil rights in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Students were inspired by the story of this great leader's struggle and his dream of lifting, in his words, "…our nation from the quicksand of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood."

The event was sponsored by the Muskego Performing Arts Council (MPAC). MPAC is a non-profit group of community volunteers whose mission is to bring quality professional arts and educational events to the community.

Another MPAC sponsored event is the annual national tour of Missoula Children’s Theatre which will take place in August for the sixth consecutive year. This summer’s production will be Cinderella. Please watch for more production and audition information which will be announced in May.

If you have an interest in the performing arts and would like to become involved with MPAC, please contact Steven Krause, MHS PAC Manager/Technical Director at (262) 971-1790, ext. 4845.
